News preceding the expedition:

September 2004: Expedition Sponsors announced, world-renowned raft guides join the expedition, Colours of the Nile partners with World Water Monitoring Day

May  2004: Expedition headquarters established in the Sudan, Sarahlee Lawrence joins the team, Colours of the Nile receives official Sudanese Governmental support, Mark attends Crocodile School.

November  2003: Les carries out scouting trip to Ethiopia, Colours of the Nile receives official Governmental support, Expedition acquires difficult to obtain maps, Ali Donald discovers early family ties in Sudan.

July 2003: Ali Donald strengthens Colours of the Nile river expertise as river guide, Planning & Logistics progress well for Ethiopian section of the river, Expedition members draw on previous Nile explorers’ wisdom.

March 2003: Rob Coffey joins expedition as river guide, Mark carries out reconnaissance work in Egypt & Sudan and route plan & timeline completed.
