While we parlez and palaver on the cellular, there are settlements along the banks of the Nile whose villagers need to trudge for days just to talk on the telephone.

In Sudan, less than 1 person in 1,000 uses the Internet and through parts of the Nile Gorge, the only form of communication with the outside world is with a costly satellite phone, not something that is readily available to the locals who earn less in a year than the average American makes in a week.
